Fabulous Fabrications by Angela Suntjens

I create metalwork that you can hand down from one generation to the next without diminishing its artistic elements or symbolic significance. Keeping this vision close to heart, I personally hammer out, shape, weld, and fabricate sheet metal for the commissioned pieces I churn out.

Some of these works of art are made out of hand-cut metal which I then colour with oil paint. I toil meticulously and make sure everything I make turns out marvellously beautiful.

I also hand-forge pieces that aren't readily available. This is important because I craft items using recycled metal when I cannot find or buy them. I personally own this local business and give back to the community through financial assistance.

Art and Heavy Metal

My love affair with metal began a long time ago. For me, nothing beats the rugged elegance of fabricated metal. As an artist with more than 12 years of welding experience, I am deeply passionate about everything handmade.

What I do runs across opposite ends of the spectrum. Single-handedly and with equal devotion, I also do heavy-duty industrial repairs. You can say that, indeed, I am a one-welder metal fabrication team.

About Me

I was born and raised in Central Alberta on a dry land farm and cattle ranch. Some of my earliest memories include helping my dad in the shop. I have always loved welding and metalwork in general.

I moved to the city to take my trades training and worked as a structural/heavy duty welder. My job was to weld base frames for grain bins, trailer frames, axles, and hitches. I took a break for a few years and obtained a BASc in Psychology and Philosophy. Currently, I am slowly working to achieve my Master’s degree.

I live on an acreage where I am most happy with my husband, dogs, and cat. I enjoy metalwork, philosophy, reading, playing the piano, quilting, and napping on Sundays.

The Rustic Fusion of Form and Function

Experience a unique combination of charming rusticity and industrial functionalism. Get blown away by the exquisite metalwork I create at Dryland Custom Fabrication. My studio-cum-fabrication shop is located in Monarch, Alberta.
